Nicki Minaj for MAC

With the launch of Nicki Minaj’s debut album, Pink Friday on November 26th, rapper Nicki Minaj has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to launch a Pink Friday lipstick that is going to be available online only.

A self-proclaimed fan of the brand, Minaj says she was so honored she teared up when meeting the M.A.C team for the first time. “They had no idea how much this meant to me,” she told PEOPLE. “I am super excited about the lipstick because I never imagined that M.A.C would even recognize me this early on in my career. For them to name the lipstick after my album makes me feel like I can do anything in the world because they are such an important brand and such an important staple in our culture.”

The lipstick shade is only available for sale on FRIDAYS. Its been doing very well and seems to sell out really early on Friday Mornings. But to get on the email list if you want to get the product you can go here.

Recap: The Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale

12 Nov

courtesy of the Feast

We entered the fray at the Manolo Blahnik sample sale this morning, where frustration ran high, and quantities in popular sizes, low.

Let’s just say that if you’re not there yet—or, at the very least, don’t have a minion holding your spot—the chances you’ll get inside while there are still shoes left is nil. Most disappointingly was the glaring absence of Andre Leon Talley, who was hosting the event.

When we arrived around 11 o’clock, group B was just being let in, and the waiting room, cushy as it is, held antsy shoppers up to group R (we polled a few gals from group H and I, who’d arrived at 9 a.m.). Then, while we eavesdropped on the constant parade of arrivals hissing various forms of “what do you meeeeeeean, it’s a long wait?” at check-in staff, there was an announcement: size 38 was running very low, as was 37 and, oh—wait, so was 36.

Eyes rolled and feet were stomped, while pairs of women chattered with resentment over the morning’s VIP list. We managed to snag one of the lucky ones as she exited the inner sanctum with two pairs of $100 heels, but she wasn’t enthused, telling us, “it’s mostly big sizes, there’s not much for middle range. It really wasn’t as good as it has been in the past.”

It seems as if the best bet for Mano-luck is an early arrival or, even better, a spot on the VIP list.

Fashion Fab!~ Introducing the K. Borgella Collection

12 Nov

K. Borgella Collection

Trend Alert: K. Borgella Collection is coming soon and we have a preview just for you. Kareen Borgella has designed this new luxury contemporary line just for women, after years of technical designing for companies such as Armani Exchange, J Crew, Marc Ecko’s Ecko Red, and the list goes on.

Kareen describes her line as “feminine pieces coated with charm and character. Just an instinctive aspiration to create beautiful things for the modern day fashionista.”

Kareen’s journey has been the picture of endless possibilities. Not only has the technical aspect of her career  contributed to her knowledge of constructing clothes to perfectly fit the body, but also how to properly select fabrics and implement different finishes to create beautiful clothing.

The K.Borgella collection represents women who look to make a statement, who love color, great fabrics, and texture, but ultimately women who just want to look and feel good in what they are wearing.

The K. Borgella collection consists of edgy but contemporary pieces that will turn heads left and right. Styles comprise of everything from evening to cocktail dresses to flowy tops and relaxed pants. There is no doubt that intricate draping was incorporated in the majority of the styles and the selection of fabrics, as color and texture were taken into high consideration.

December 2, 2010 will mark the official launch of the Spring K.Borgella Collection with an amazing fashion show at the New Art Gallery. If you want to make a bold statement for the upcoming holidays, step out in style like your favorite celebrity, or do a little fashion spring cleaning, the K.Borgella Collection is sure to be the new must have for 2011.

Sample Sale Alert: Manolo and Louboutin

10 Nov

Though unconfirmed, we think you’ll agree that these Madison Avenue Spy Sample Sale rumors are too good (and likely, too credible) not to spread.

According to reports, Metropolitan Pavilion’s private Christian Louboutin sample sale is this week. (By private, we mean that last year, invitees had to R.S.V.P. via e-mail and confirm a time to shop. Chances are, joining their e-alerts mailing list won’t help you score a coveted invite.)

Meanwhile, Manolo Blahnik’s public sale — twice hosted this year by Andre Leon Talley himself — is reportedly slated for Thursday [as in November 11, 2010], too. Unlike Louboutin, the Warwick Hotel event doesn’t require an invite. Shoes are restocked mid-day and we’ve always been keen on the size, style, and price ranges, too. (Note: Sale hours are listed at 9 a.m., but past experience leads us to believe that public doors won’t open until 11 a.m.)

Either way, here are the details, just as we read them:

Christian Louboutin Sample Sale
306 West 38th Street 14th Floor (Between 8th & 9th Streets): Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday,  9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale
Warwick Hotel, 65 West 54th Street (at 6th Avenue): Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Cash only.
